Laura V. Dickinson, 95, died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Presbyterian Manor in Newton, KS. She was born November 5, 1911 in Maitland, MO the daughter of Alexander J. and Minnie Kneale Barker.
She was a farmwife and later ran the Mobil Station in Hoyt with her husband. She was a member of the Hoyt Baptist Church. She played the piano and organ for the Hoyt Baptist Church for over 50 years. She also gave piano lessons.
Laura married Edward M. Dickinson on March 12, 1936 in Hoyt, KS. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1997. She was also preceded by brothers, Edward Barker and Bethel Barker. She is survived by a daughter, Joan Edson of Overland Park, KS; sons, John Dickinson of Emporia, KS, and Joe Dickinson of Newton, KS; a sister Mary Joy of Hoyt, KS; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the Hoyt Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Hoyt Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
