Kenneth Raymond "Shorty" Jerome, 72, of Circleville, KS passed away August 2, 2010 at his home. He was born August 23, 1937 near Corning, KS the son of Louis F. and Mary Helen Little Jerome.
Kenny graduated from Goff High School in 1955 and was a lifelong member of the Jackson County community. He was a farmer and stockman and was employed with Goodyear for 36 years. He was a member of United Steelworkers Union Local #307 and a member of the NRA. Kenneth proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
On November 7, 1959, he married Rose Lee Richard in Goff, she preceded him in death on December 8, 2004. He is survived by: his son, Kenny R. Jerome (Lynn) of Circleville, KS; his daughter, Annetta Browning of Circleville, KS; his sisters, Marilyn Fund (Dale) of Kansas City, MO, Helen Slattery of Mayetta, KS, RaEtta McKinnon of Halstead, KS and Della Steinlage (Ralph) of Topeka, KS; his brother, Dean Jerome (Brenda) of Roeland Park, KS; 7 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Jerome.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday August 6, 2010 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ontario Cemetery The family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Kenneth Jerome memorial fund to be designated at a later time.
