CIRCLEVILLE- Kenneth Joe "Go-Rat" Slocum, 45, of Circleville, KS passed away, Thursday, November 25, 2010 as a result of an auto accident north of Circleville. He was born September 24, 1965 in Warrensburg, MO, the son of Larry Dean "Butch" and Cheryl "Susie" Marr Slocum.
Kenny graduated from Jackson Heights High School in 1984 and had lived in Circleville for many years. He had also lived in Horton, KS for 5 years. He was a farmer and stockman and worked for the Kansas Dept. of Transportation for 20 years. He was currently a bridge inspector. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Horton and belonged to the Circleville Saddle Club.
Kenny was married to Barb Burke on June 1, 1996 in Everest, KS. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his mother, Cheryl "Susie" Slocum of Circleville; his sons, Burke and Lane Slocum of Circleville; his daughter, Jordan Monson (Ryan Ramey) of Lawrence, KS; his grandson, Matthias Ramey; his father and mother-in-law, Elwood and JoAnn Burke of Holton; brothers and sisters, Pam Norman (Dave) of Horton, KS, Darrell Burke (Eric Wittgen) of Atlanta, GA and Tina Helmstetter (Jerry) of Denton, KS and grandparents, Galen and Dorothy Marr of Warrensburg, MO.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Ontario Cemetery north of Circleville. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
