Karen Lucille (Harris) Bagwell, 72, of Whiting, KS passed away April 4, 2014 at her home. She was born August 24, 1941 in Battle Creek, IA the daughter of Leo Christopher and Amelia Martha (Wittmaack) Harris.

Karen graduated from ACCHS in 1959. She proudly served in the United States Navy. Karen was a member of the Wave Drill Team and Team Flag Bearer from 1960-1961 of the 85 ^th Division Company 10/11. She was honorably discharged in 1960. Karen worked for the United States Post Office and retired in 1989 due to disability.

She married Brent Alan Bagwell on November 6, 1960 in LaGrange, IN. They later divorced.

Survivors include 2 sons, Kimberly "Eric" Bagwell of Whiting, KS and Kurtis Lee Bagwell of Fallon, NV; a daughter, Kelly Lynne Toups of Winnie, TX; a sister, Shirley Calvert of Topeka, KS; 3 brothers, Leslie W. Harris of Westmoreland, KS, Wendell E. Harris of Meriden, KS and Kenneth E. Harris of South Fort, CO; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great grandson, Xander and 4 brothers, John, Wilbur, Norman and Eldon Harris.

Karen's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Friday. Inurnment will follow at the Larkinburg Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Legion Riders Post #44 c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
