Hiawatha- Julia C. Linnemann, 89, of Hiawatha, KS formerly of Goff, KS passed away August 6, 2009 at Maple Heights Nursing Home, where she received loving and compassionate care. She was born March 28, 1920 in Goff, KS the daughter of Frank and Harriett Catuska Blanc. She attended Mount Union School (south of Goff).
Julia worked at the Brown County Infirmary for 10 years. She owned and operated D&J Café in Goff from 1971 – 1991. She was a member of the Goff United Methodist Church, OES and So & So Club all of Goff, KS.
She married Richard Gharst in October of 1936, they later divorced. She later married Daryl E. Linnemann on March 31, 1969 in Everest, KS. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2001. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Bertha McClain, Mary Store, Grace Battin and Isabelle Gharst; brothers, Lawrence, Charles and Leland Blanc.
Survivors include a daughter, Roberta Jurgens and her husband James of Shell Rock, IA; a step-daughter, Terry Beth Reed of Merced, CA; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Goff United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Goff. Family will greet friends 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Goff United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to the O.E.S. or Goff United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O.
