Joshua Daniel Penry, 38, of Holton, KS, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 10, 2023 at his home. He was born July 18, 1985 in Winchester, KS, the son of Daryl Penry and Lisa (Jenkins) Siemens.

Josh graduated from Royal Valley High School in 2004. He volunteered for the Jackson County Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry and he participated in the Special Olympics. Josh enjoyed riding his bike, swimming, fishing, playing baseball and softball.

Survivors include his father, Daryl Penry (Glenda) of Meriden, KS; his mother, Lisa Siemens of Holton, KS; grandmother, Sharron Jenkins of Holton, KS and 2 brothers, Joey Penry (Christal) of Williamsburg, MO and Jacob Underwood of Topeka, KS.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gerald Jenkins and paternal grandparents, Cecil and Virginia Penry.

Visitation will be 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Mercer Funeral Home. Graveside Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the JCMA Food Pantry c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
