HOLTON- Josephine Agatha Peacock, 97, of Holton passed away May 7, 2010 at Holton Community Hospital. She was born March 15, 1913 in Kansas City, KS the daughter of Pete and Antonia (Solowski) Gregorcyk.
She graduated from Wakeeney Kansas High School. She had lived in the Holton community for 14 years and previously lived in Great Bend for over forty years. She was a bookkeeper for Alefs Equipment, a homemaker and an avid gardener. Mrs. Peacock was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend, a member of Gardenetts, Rebekah Lodge, Bissel Point Unit and Great Bend Thread Binders Guild.
She married Henry Sheldon Peacock on July 3, 1934 in Wakeeney. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Kellerman of Holton, KS and June Hanks of West Des Moines, IA; two sisters, Helen Worrall of Holton, KS and Connie Peacock of Great Bend, KS; three grandchildren, Cynthia Jo Hower (Roger) of Holton, KS, Catherine Lynn Dennis (Don) of Des Moines, IA and Steven James Hanks of Genesee, ID and four great-grandchildren, Andrew Jacob Dennis of Des Moines, IA, Lauren Jo Hower of Holton, KS, Ryley James Hanks and Cooper Jaxson Hanks of Genesee, ID.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton. Family will greet friends at a visitation one hour prior to service time Monday morning at the church. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Holton Community Hospital c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
