FITZSIMMONS
MAYETTA- Joseph Orin "Pe-way" Fitzsimmons, 81, of Mayetta, KS died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at his home. He was born February 23, 1926 in Mayetta, the son of Floyd S. and Ruth E. Wahwassuck Fitzsimmons. He attended Mayetta High School. Joe had lived all his life in the Mayetta community. He had operated the café in Mayetta with his wife, Carol. He later worked as a Road Maintainer for Jackson County. He was a member of the Potawatomi United Methodist Church and the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
He was married to Ida "Carol" Ramage on October 17, 1943 at the Potawatomi United Methodist Church near Mayetta. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Carol Arnold, his grandson, Joe Arnold, his sister, Evelyn Wahweotten, and brothers, Floyd "Mark" Fitzsimmons, George Fitzsimmons and Gene Fitzsimmons. Survivors include his daughter, Debra Slocum of Mayetta, KS; his sister, Edna Forster of Holton, KS; 5 grandchildren, Laura Schreiber, Elaine Dreasher, Robert Slocum, Carilyn Slocum and David Slocum and 3 great grandchildren, Curtis and Justen Dreasher and Jamie Arnold.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Monday evening at the funeral home.
