Jon Paul Wahwassuck

Jon Paul Wahwassuck, 53, of Mayetta, KS passed away February 26, 2026. He was born March 27, 1972 in Keams Canyon, AZ, the son of Merriell V. “Meatball” Wahwassuck, Sr. and Belva Linda (Coochise) Wahwassuck.

Jon worked as a Boilermaker for Local 83 Union, working as a welder and fabricator until retiring in 2019.

Jon was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and the Drum Religion.

Survivors include his 2 sisters, Anna M. Boswell (Michael) and Cosette Wahwassuck both of Mayetta, KS; 3 brothers, Merriell V. Wahwassuck, Jr. (Mechelle), Brandon Wahwassuck and Michael Wahwassuck (Dawn) all of Mayetta, KS and many nieces and nephews.

Wake and Ttibekwe will be Saturday evening, February 28, 2026 at the homeplace, 13350 N. Rd., Mayetta, KS. Sunrise burial will be Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Prairie Peoples Cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
