MAYETTA – Jon Albert Schuh, 66 of Mayetta, Kansas passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born April 3, 1952 in Chula Vista, CA the son of Albert Ronald and Norma (Kinnel) Leach.
Jon graduated from Chula Vista High School in 1971. In his early years he worked for the California Forestry. Jon moved to Kansas and worked for many years at the Schuh Brother's Construction Company in Hoyt, KS where he built Butler Buildings. Jon worked the rest of his life at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Topeka, KS for over thirty and half years and retired in 2009. He was a member of the Union Steel Workers Local #307.
Jon enjoyed flying, boating, fishing and woodworking. He loved watching his children's sporting events and was a proud member of the Royal Valley Booster Club. He was an avid San Diego Charger fan. Most of all Jon loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Jon was united in marriage to Roberta A. Mathena on September 21, 1974 at the Hoyt Methodist Church in Hoyt, KS. They shared over 43 years of marriage. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his mother Norma Leach of Holton, KS; 3 sons, Mathew Schuh (Shannon) of Holton, KS, Brian Schuh (Beka) of Marion, KS and Dustin Schuh (Brittany) of Topeka, KS; 1 sister, Susan Richardson of Mayetta, KS; 1 brother, Al Specht (Jan) of El Cajon, California; 9 grandchildren, Braxton, Kyrianna, Piper, Peyton, Brogan, Blaine, Bladen, Greysen and a soon to be baby coming in November of 2018.
He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Ronald Schuh; father-in-law, Robert E. Mathena; stepfather, Lexie Leach, stepmother Billie Marie Schuh and a stepbrother Dan Welch.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment will follow to the Hoyt Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Jon A.
