John T. O'Neill

John Thomas O'Neill, 91, Winchester, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at the Jefferson County Memorial Geriatric Center at Winchester.
He was born April 6, 1916, at Winchester, the son of Frank F. and Lura Hensleigh O'Neill. He graduated from Winchester Rural High School in 1934 and attended Sterling College for one year.
John was a farmer and stockman south of Winchester. He was a charter board member of the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital and served as the administrator for fourteen years. He was also a dairy herd tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for twenty years. He served as a deacon and later an elder at the Winchester Reformed Presbyterian Church.
He married Rose Annetta Keys on March 5, 1940, at Winchester. A brother, Howard O'Neill, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Rose, Winchester; a son, Jerry O'Neill, Pittsburgh, PA; three daughters, Linda Henry, Vadnais Heights, MN, Bonnie Meyer, Palatine, IL and Rita Lyon, Winchester; a brother, Gene O'Neill, Winchester; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at the Winchester Reformed Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, at the O'Neill Farmstead (home of Bob & Rita Lyon), 14431 Saline RD, Winchester. Mr. O'Neill will lie in repose at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday, and from 9:00 a.m., Saturday, until service time, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital or to the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, 810 Broadway, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
