VALLEY FALLS, KS- John Lee Hewitt Sr., 83, of Valley Falls, KS, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at his home. He was born April 17, 1937 in Leavenworth, KS, the son of Gale C. and Virginia (Harper) Hewitt.

He attended schools in Leavenworth and later served in the United States Army as a cook.

John, along with his sons, John, Jr. and Gale, was owner and operator of Hewitt's Concrete Construction for many years.

He married Lois Ann Jeffries on September 20, 1957 in Leavenworth, KS. They celebrated over 57 years of marriage. Lois passed away December 10, 2014. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gale Hewitt; a grandson, Justin Hewitt; 4 sisters, Margreatt Annbell Driscoll, Bonnie Sparks, Pauline West and Nadine Zink and a brother, Melvin L. Hewitt.

Survivors include his son, John L. Hewitt, Jr. (Linda) of Valley Falls, KS; sister, Evelyn Bradford of Leavenworth, KS; brother, Bev Hewitt of Leavenworth, KS; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
