JOHN A CORY SR

John A Cory Sr, 72, Valley Falls, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at his home.
He was a Certified Nurse's Assistant at Valley Health Care in Valley Falls and had worked in their maintenance and housekeeping departments.
He had worked as a painter and welder for Haul-Mor Manufacturing in Valley Falls. He had been a volunteer fireman for over 20 years and also a deputy policeman in Valley Falls.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1934, at Valley Falls, the son of Archie and Anna A McCrea Cory. He graduated from Valley Falls High School and served in the Kansas National Guard.
He married Mary Cook on April 14, 1964, at Valley Falls. They were divorced.
Survivors include a son, John A Cory Jr, and his wife Lauren, Joplin, MO; two daughters, Sheila Cory, Valley Falls, and Debbie Nichols, and her husband, Terry, Valley Falls; a sister, Alice Von Bergen and her husband, Earl, Alton Il, and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Cremation is planned and private burial will be at a later date.
