JoAnn Eilene Shumaker, 84, of Topeka, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Oakley Place Senior Living in Topeka. She was born April 5, 1938 in Vermillion, KS, the daughter of Clifton and Opal (Skillet) Holland.

JoAnn graduated from Centralia High School in 1956. She then moved to Topeka, KS where she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She later worked for Pricket and Onek Architects, Max Baker, Gene Abel Trucking and Falley's Grocery Store all in Topeka.

She attended Crestview United Methodist Church in Topeka.

JoAnn married John F. Shumaker on April 20, 1957 in Centralia, KS. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2018, after 61 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son, Roy A. Shumaker.

JoAnn is survived by her son, Roger Shumaker (Susan) of Topeka, KS; daughter, Janis Ackerman (Eric) of Topeka, KS; 4 grandchildren, Brandon Blanco, Brooke Ackerman, Ryan Shumaker and Eric Shumaker and 5 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Wetmore Cemetery. JoAnn will lie in state beginning Friday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
