MAYETTA-Jimmie Lee Kern, 72, Mayetta, died Saturday Jan. 28, 2012, at his home. He was born on Dec. 28, 1939, at Mayetta, the son of Creston Clifford and Elsie Margaret Johnson Kern. He graduated from Mayetta High School in 1957. Jimmie owned Kern Auto Supply in Holton for 43 years.

He married Eileen "Tutti" Matchie on Aug. 27, 1962, at Holton. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Rusty Kern, Mayetta, and Jim (Debbie) Kern, Jr., Florence, AL; two daughters, Teri (Alan) Barr, Lawrence, and Jackie (Nick) Cummings, Hoyt; a sister, Donna Holcomb, Mayetta; grandchildren, Marcus Kern, Chris, Megan, and Mason Barr, Creston and Hayden Cummings, and Lindsey Kern; great-grandchildren, Logan Covan and Jagger Barr.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Alex Hayes Barr.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Mayetta Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
