HOLTON – Jennifer Dawn Monhollon, 39, of Holton, KS passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Holton Community Hospital in Holton, KS. She was born July 1, 1984 in Garden City, KS, the daughter of Randy and Rhonda (Crook) Magnison.
She graduated from Ulysses High School in 2002 and she earned her Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Washburn University.
She was married to Jon Banaka. They later divorced. To this union they shared a daughter, Jordyn Banaka. On September 26, 2015, Jennifer was united in marriage to Nathan Monhollon in Hiawatha, KS. To this union they shared a son, Jackson Monhollon.
Jennifer worked for nine years as Corrections Officer at the Topeka Correctional Facility in Topeka, KS where she was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant. This past year she was a full-time substitute teacher at Holton High School and also substitute taught at Jackson Heights High School. She loved her students and they loved her and developed many lasting relationships, especially playing pitch and providing snacks. Jennifer was an excellent cook and baker. She was a self-employed Cookier, where she designed and custom made her own cookies. She was no longer making custom cookies but she was still getting requests weekly. Jennifer's cookies were so beautiful and so delicious. Her artistic talent was seen in all areas of her work and home. Most of all, Jennifer was a loving mother and devoted wife where she took much pride in caring for her family. She also took great pride in watching her children at their sports activities. She was one of the noisy parents but supported the whole team.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton.
Survivors included her husband, Nathan Monhollon of the home; children, Jordyn Banaka and Jackson Monhollon both of the home; her parents Randy and Rhonda Magnison of Holton; brother, Jeremy Haunschild (Emily) of Boston, MA; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Carol Monhollon of Memphis, TN.
Memorial Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 31, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Holton. Family will greet friends Thursday May 30, 2024 from 6-7:30 P.M. at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorial may be made to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
