After a valiant seven year struggle, Richard House lost his one and only Jeanne to cancer on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at their home in Topeka.
Jeanne worked for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co. in Topeka for 24 years as a statistical engineering analyst in the Technical Research and Development Department. She had also worked for National Reserve Life Insurance Co. and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., both in Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John McIntyre, David McIntyre and Jeff McIntyre; and one sister, Linda Benson.
Jeanne and Richard were married on Oct. 29, 1960, in Omaha, NE. During their 50 years of marriage they were blessed with a son, Shawn (Charlie) House, Meriden; three daughters, Tracy House, Lawrence, Susan Coukoulis, Mission, and Amber House, Lenexa; six grandchildren, Justin Allensworth, Brian House, Alex Coukoulis, Ronald Creek, Nicole House and Seriah Creek, and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Kaylee House. She is also survived by two sisters, Judith McIntyre, Baton Rouge, LA, and Mary Ann Olinde, Topeka.
The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Interment will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery.
