Obituary

Janis Lynne Tapley, 58, of Holton, KS passed away December 1, 2012 at Stormont Vail Hospital. She was born September 14, 1954 in Holton, KS the daughter of Albert "Duane" and Betty (Scheidegger) Moore.

Janis graduated from Holton High School in 1972 and received her Certified Nurse's Aide at Kaw V alley Vo-Tech in Topeka. She worked as a CNA and CMA at St. Francis Hospital, Jackson County Nursing Home and Jackson County Health Department. She worked at Tastee Freeze and Sonic both in Holton. Later, Janis had her own day care and helped with pre-school at a local day care in Holton.

Janis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton and a former member of the Happy Hour Club of Larkinburg.

She married James M. "Jim" Tapley, Jr. on May 12, 1984 in Holton. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Moore of Topeka, KS; a son, Steven Tapely of Durham, NC; two sisters, Sandra Biber (Gary) of Topeka, KS and Kathleen Stephen (Dennis) of Chicago, IL; a brother, Gregory Moore of Florida and two grandsons, Seth and Spencer Tapley.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Janis Tapley Memorial Fund (to be designated at a later date for transplant recipients) c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
