Janet Sue (Reynolds) Ellerman Levingston, 88, of Valley Falls, KS, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024. She was born August 18, 1935, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Robert L. and Viola (Tackett) Reynolds.

Janet graduated from the Kansas School for the Deaf in 1956. She lived over 6 years in Valley Falls and previously from 1956 – 1994 in Nortonville, KS and from 1994 – 2018 in Independence, MO.

She loved living the country life on the farm, some of her hobbies over the years included gardening, canning, cooking and sewing. Janet was very dedicated to ironing, and always had an outfit ready to wear. She loved spending quality time with her family and friends.

Janet worked for nearly 25 years at F.W. Huston Medical Center (formerly the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital) in the laundry and housekeeping departments.

She was a former member of the Nortonville Christian Church and a member of the Topeka Deaf Club.

Janet married Carl. L. Ellerman, Sr. on June 17, 1956, in Louisburg, KS; he preceded her in death on June 16, 1993; after 37 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Viola Reynolds; a sister, Marilyn White, and a beloved dog, Dolly.

She married Wesley H. Levingston on September 10, 1994, in Nortonville, KS. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2022, after 29 years of marriage.

Survivors include her; daughter, Cindy S. Volk (Shawn) of Tucson, AZ; son, Carl L. Ellerman, Jr. (Jill) of Valley Falls, KS; 2 grandchildren, Alex Volk (Taylor) of Tucson, AZ and Drew Volk (Natalie) of Tucson, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.

Private Graveside Service was held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Nortonville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Coal Creek United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
