TAYLOR
SOLDIER- James Edward Taylor, 80, of Soldier, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Medicalodges Jackson County. He was born January 20, 1927 in Mayetta, KS, the son of George Raymond and Cloe Davis Taylor.
Jim graduated from Circleville High School in 1945. He lived in Denison before moving to Holton in 1954. He had lived south of Soldier since 1973. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, six months of that in Berlin. Jim was a farmer and stockman and had worked for Goodyear for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He had served on the Buck's Grove Cemetery Board for many years and was a member of United Steel Worker's Local #307.
He was married to Twila Pauline Clifton on January 12, 1948 in Holton, KS. She survives. He is also survived by his sons, Dan Taylor and his wife, Donnie of Hoyt, KS and Steve Taylor and his wife, Shelley of Auburn, KS; his daughter, Connie Peterson and her husband, Bryant of Soldier, KS, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Hoppes in 2004 and his great-granddaughter, Annie Rokala in 2005. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Buck's Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion WE-TA-SE Post 410. Family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
