James Lawrence Mahoney, 55, of Mayetta, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at his home. He was born July 30, 1969 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of James J. and Catherine (Proctor) Mahoney. He graduated in 1988 from West Milford High School in West Milford, New Jersey.

Throughout his life, James worked various jobs such as landscaping and construction in New Jersey before moving to Mayetta. He enjoyed his last job where he worked for Putnam Quarter Horses in Hoyt, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his father, James J. Mahoney; his mother, Catherine Proctor; and his step-mother, Rosanne Mahoney.

James is survived by his sister, Mary Alice Mahoney of Mayetta, Kansas.

James will be cremated and a memorial service will be planned at a later date. Memorials may be made to Mercer Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses and sent in care to P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
