JAMES GRAU

MAYETTA- James A. Grau, 61, of Mayetta, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born March 1, 1946 in Beloit, KS, the son of Gene Morris and Mary Kathryn Hyde Grau.
He graduated from Winona High School n 1964. He then received his Associate of Arts degree from Fort Hays State College. He served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War. After the Army, he attended Kansas State University and graduated with a Business Degree. Mr. Grau owned and operated Mayetta Oil for many years and also operated Jim Grau Construction.
He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1367 in Holton.
He married Karla Winters on June 15, 1980 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Shane Grau of Topeka, KS; a daughter, Shelby Grau and her husband, Brett James of Mayetta, KS; 4 brothers, John Grau of Soldier, KS, Greg Grau of Kansas City, MO, Pat Grau of Atlanta, GA, Art Grau of Mesa, AZ; a step-brother Harold Herring of Grove, OK and one grandchild expected in March.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening with visitation to follow. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
