Jack Perry Tharp, 87, of Holton, KS, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at The Pines in Holton, with family by his side. He was born January 6, 1935 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Lee Earl and Ida Mae (Halcombe) Tharp.
Jack earned his Bachelors of Science Degree from Pittsburg State College and his Master of Science Degree from Pittsburg State University in 1975. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, he was honorably discharged ranked at Corporal.
He was a Printing Instructor for the Graphic Arts Department at Wichita Area Technical College; retiring on July 1, 2000.
Jack married Pamela J. (Isenhour) Logan on October 4, 1984 in Olathe, KS. They celebrated over 38 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela of the home; 3 sons, David W. Tharp of Grapevine, TX, Michael P. Tharp of Atlanta, GA and Robert L. Tharp of Overland Park, KS; step-son, Sean P. Harrington of Woodland Hills, CA; step-daughter, Leigh H. DeWitt of Brownsburg, IN; ½ sister, Barbara J. Koonse of Shawnee, KS; ½ brother, Charles E. Franklin of Vancouver, WA; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Private Family Memorial Graveside Service will be at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials and cards of condolence may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
