Icel Martin, 94, of Mayetta, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at a Topeka nursing home. She was born September 26, 1917 in Linncreek, MO, the daughter of Earnest and Mary Edwards Jeffries.
Icel graduated from Hoyt High School in 1935. She lived in Mayetta for 46 years and moved to Holton in 1991. Icel worked at Hallmark Cards from 1951 to 1961.
Icel married Howard Martin on January 6, 1940 in Topeka. Howard preceded her in death on August 15, 1995. Icel is survived by many nieces and nephews. Icel was preceded in death by her brothers, William Jeffries, Ora Jeffries and Glavin Jeffries and her sisters, Beth Uber and Arta Cambridge.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be at Mayetta Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:30 until the service.
