CIRCLEVILLE- Hilda Sophia Richter, 99, of Circleville, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Holton Manor. She was born May 31, 1906 in Leonardville, KS, the daughter of Charles F. and Katie Hageman Strauss.
She had lived in Irving, KS before moving to Circleville in 1952. She was a farmwife until 1963. She then worked at the North Side Café in Holton and later worked in the kitchen at the Holton Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Circleville Christian Church. She was a lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star in Circleville receiving her 50 year pin in 2003. She was also a member of the Senior Executives in Circleville.
She was married to Marvin E. Richter on January 2, 1935 in Wamego. He died December 18, 1963. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lois Ann Richter on September 25, 1964. Survivors include her son, Charles Richter and his wife, Connie of Circleville, 2 stepsons, Wayne Richter of Palo Alto, CA and Jack Richter of Shawnee, KS, 2 grandchildren, Pat Richter of Circleville and Gena Smith and her husband, Terry of Whiting and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
