EDWARDS

MAYETTA- Herbert A. Edwards, 79, of Mayetta, died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the Onaga Hospital.
He was born November 11, 1926 in Holton, KS, the son of Albert and Edna Fink Edwards. Herbert was a farmer and stockman in the Mayetta community all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Potawatomi United Methodist Church west of Mayetta.
Herbert was married to Leona Dale Robinson on May 8, 1948 in Holton. Leona passed away on March 14, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his son Dale Jeffrey Edwards, Dale's wife, Nancy Jo and 3 grandchildren, Daniel, Angela and Kattie Jo in an auto accident in 1986. Two sisters, Helen Barton and Ruth Wallisch, and three brothers, Kenneth, Buford and Cecil Edwards also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy Thoman and her husband, Donnie of Mayetta, three sisters, Waneva Lutz of Mayetta and Lila Haney and Mary Blackburn both of Topeka, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Mayetta Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Potawatomi United Methodist Church co Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
