HOLTON- Helen F. Zwonitzer, 90, of Holton, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton, KS. She was born April 24, 1918 in Aniston, MO, the daughter of Luther and Mae Gibbons Metz.
She attended Soldier Grade School and Holton High School. She was a lifelong member of the Holton community. Helen was a homemaker, a substitute mail carrier and worked with her husband, Fred, as a secretary for Zwonitzer Propane.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and Banner Grange both in Holton and the Moose Lodge of Topeka.
Helen married Fred M. Zwonitzer on September 27, 1935 in Topeka, KS. He passed away August 30, 1996. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Judy Zwonitzer.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Zwonitzer and wife, Juanita of Temecula, CA, Gary Zwonitzer and wife, Jeannie of Columbia, MO, Larry Zwonitzer of Holton, KS; her daughter, Peggy Sumner and husband, Don of Topeka, KS; 23 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery.
