HELEN HUNTER

TOPEKA- Helen (Tudor) Hunter, 84, of Topeka, formerly of Holton, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was born May 30, 1924 in Holton, KS, the daughter of Walter Edward and Carrie Ann Todd Tudor.
Helen graduated from Holton High School in 1942 and had lived in Topeka for more than 50 years. She made draperies for many years. Helen later worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 20 years, retiring in 1989. She volunteered at Stormont Vail Hospital for 16 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Topeka and Tau Kappa Chapter THI TAU Sorority.
She was married to Robert Alec Hunter on July 16, 1944 in Holton. He survives. Helen is also survived by her daughter, Sharon Ann McBride and Jerry of Topeka, KS; her sons, Steven Robert Hunter and Karen of Centerville, VA and Michael Joe Hunter of Topeka, KS; her sister, Phyllis Zibell and Bill of Holton, KS; her brother, Edward Tudor and Eloise of Shreveport, LA; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Topeka. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Holton Cemetery. Helen will lie in state until 3 p.m. Sunday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
