Obituary

Helen M. Coe, 90, of Soldier, KS passed away November 18, 2012 at the Onaga Community Hospital. She was born May 14, 1922 north of Soldier, KS the daughter of Andrew and Rosa (Staehli) Aeschliman.

Helen graduated from Corning High School in 1940 and completed normal teacher's training. She taught at a country school in Nemaha County for a couple of years. Helen also owned and operated with her husband, Mike, a dairy farm northwest of Soldier for over 45 years.

She was a member of the Soldier Christian Church and the Soldier Christian Ladies. Helen was a 4-H leader for Soldier Boosters and served on the Soldier Grade School Board. She also belonged to the Soldier EHU and the YL Club.

Helen married Bernard "Mike" Coe on January 24, 1942 in Corning, KS. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1987. She was also preceded in death by 5 sisters, Edna Aeschliman, Ruth Aeschliman, Opal Stalcup, Alvina Shaffer and Ruby Wroth.

Survivors include her son, Kyle Coe and his wife, Glenda, of Soldier, her daughter, Andra Holliday and her husband, Larry, of Soldier; 8 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Soldier Christian Church. Burial will be in the Soldier Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Soldier Christian Church or Jackson Heights Education Foundation c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
