Hazel Geneva Pool, 96, of Holton formerly of Circleville died Saturday, May 30, 2010 in Holton. Hazel was born on March 22, 1914 in Rossville, KS. She was the daughter of Thomas and Kate Keeton Oldfield.
Hazel graduated from Scranton High School in 1932. She had lived in Circleville from 1954 to 2007, when she moved to Holton. Hazel was a member of Circleville Christian Church, and she worked for the Kansas State Department of Vehicles from 1951 to 1979 as a supervisor in Titles & Registration.
Hazel married Ralph Edwin Brasche on November 5, 1937 in Silver Lake. They were later divorced. Hazel married Carl Finis Pool on December 30, 1953 in Lyndon. Carl preceded her in death on February 24, 1975. She was also preceded by 3 sisters and a brother. Hazel is survived by her children, Ralph Brasche (Dona) of Charlotte, NC; Nick Pool (Shirley) of Holton; JoAnn Nott (Kenny) of Holton; seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Hazel was cremated. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Circleville Christian Church. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Circleville Christian Church or Jackson County Senior Citizens Center c/o Mercer Funeral Home PO Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
