HAZEL V. McCLENNY
Hazel Viola McClenny, 95, peacefully passed away Saturday, November 18, 2006 at LinnWood Place in Valley Falls.
She farmed with her late husband, Wallace McClenny, in the Valley Falls area. She had taught at Pacific and Coppinger rural schools in Jefferson County and had worked at Valley Health Care Center.
She was born June 27, 1911, at Dunavant, the daughter of Ernest Elmer and Mary Elizabeth Tucking Barnard. She graduated from Winchester High School. She was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had also taught piano and had been a Valley Victors 4-H Club Leader. She was a member of the Bolton H.D.U. and had written a news column, "Bolton Breezes", for the Valley Falls Vindicator.
She married Wallace Eshom McClenny on July 18, 1934, at Valley Falls. He died on Feb. 24, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son Philip D. McClenny, on Aug. 31, 2002, three brothers, Elmer Barnard, John Barnard and Fred Barnard and a sister, Martha Repstine.
Survivors include three daughters, Doris E. Boleson, Miami Springs, FL, Patricia A. Nix, and her husband, Larry, Topeka, and Sandra VanPool, and her husband, William, Shawnee; three grandchildren, Lynnette Droge, Lucas, TX, Lance Nix, Topeka, and Wallace A. McClenny, Topeka; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Visitation will be from until 10:00 a.m. service time. Burial will be at the Spring Grove Cemetery.
