Obituary

Harry Dan Massey, 64, of Holton died Friday, January 11, 2008 at a Topeka hospital. He was born March 6, 1943 in Horton, KS, the son of Harry Henry and Mable Catherine VanDonge Massey.
He graduated from Goff High School in 1961. In high school he participated in basketball, baseball, and sang in the Men's Quartet. He retired from Goodyear in 2001 after 37 years. He was a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #64 in Holton. He also coached his children's baseball and softball teams. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holton where he was a former Deacon and served as a financial officer. He served stateside during Vietnam in the United States Air Force.
Harry married Linda Sue Bacon on June 5, 1966 in Aberdeen, MS. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Christopher A. Massey of Topeka and a daughter, Michelle Leigh Cawby of Holton; a sister, Sandy Duryea of Corning and grandsons, Joel and Grant Cawby. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Humphreys.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Tuesday evening at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or the Heart of Jackson Humane Society and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
