HARRIET F. THOMAS

WHITING- Harriet F. Thomas, 96, of Whiting, KS passed away Friday, March 07, 2008 at the Onaga Hospital. She was born August 15, 1911 in Whiting, the daughter of E.B. and Frona Zimmerman Hedge. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1929 and lived all her life in the Whiting community. She was a homemaker and farmwife and a long-time member of the Whiting United Methodist Church. She was a 50 year member of the United Methodist Women and belonged to the Parallel Club.
She was married to Lyle W. Thomas on January 12, 1931 in Hiawatha, KS. He passed away on September 29, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Elanor Denton, Mary Edds and Esther Biswell and her brother, Homer Hedge. Survivors include her sons, William Thomas and his wife, Rosa of Whiting and Kenneth Thomas and his wife, Norma of Whiting; her sister-in-law, Therma Zabel of Newton, KS; 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS. She will lie in state at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening.
