Obituary

Harold A. Hodge, 78, of Holton, KS went to be with his Lord and Savior, September 1, 2013. Harold was born June 4, 1935 at Circleville, KS to John and Lottie (Eby) Hodge. He attended Lone Tree Grade School and graduated from Havensville High School then entered the United States Air Force where he served four years. Upon completing his military duty he enrolled at K-State University and later attended Radio Engineering Institute in Omaha, NE, after graduating from REI he was hired by Martin Marietta Corporation in Littleton, CO, where he worked for a number of years. Following his time in the aerospace industry, he was employed by Gates Rubber Company in Denver, as a Regional Hardware Sales Manager. This lead to him starting his own sales representative business, Hodge & Associates and his family moved to Holton where he continued to work until his retirement in 2008.

Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holton, he was a Holton City Commissioner and later served as Mayor of Holton and he was a past member of the Beck-Bookman Library Board.

His family brought him great joy and he loved the outdoors, cutting wood, fishing and attending Holton High School and K-State sporting events. Harold also officiated basketball for a number of years.

He married Janice "Jan" M. Casey on August 31, 1958 in Havensville, KS. They celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary. Jan survives of the home. Other survivors include his son, Eric (Colleen) Hodge of Lawrence, KS; his daughter, Kelly (Roger) Boatwright of York, PA; six grandsons, Joshua Hodge, Jordan Boatwright, Garrett Hodge, Luke Boatwright, Cameron Hodge and Jace Boatwright; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Evelyn Epling and Wanda Johnson and his brother, Lloyd Hodge.

Harold dearly loved his family, friends and the Holton Community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Holton. Private family burial will follow the funeral at the Circleville Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
