AUBURN- Greg Oberst, 66, Auburn, KS, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at a Topeka hospital. He was born on March 6, 1946, at Owensboro, KY, the son of Marcellus B. and Margaret Mary Cecil Oberst. He graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1964.
He married Rosie Estes on Feb. 14, 1992, at Atlanta, GA. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Stephanie (Greg) Gordon, Benton, KY; two brothers, Donnie (Mary) Oberst, Owensboro, KY; and Wayne Oberst, West Palm Beach, FL; two sisters, Janet Hust, New Albany, IN; and Kay (Buddie) Ellis, Louisville, KY; and several cousins, nephews and nieces also in Kentucky.
Greg moved to Auburn from Lawrenceville, GA in 1997. He had worked as an industrial electrician for HK Systems, Federal Express, United Parcel Service, and many other large companies. He retired in 2011 to enjoy life at his beloved ranch southwest of Auburn.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery.
