Gerald Alan “Jerry” Swart, 85, of Goff, KS, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026 at his home. He was born July 27, 1940 in Seneca, KS, the son of Henry William and Mary “Madeline” (Hailey) Swart.
Jerry graduated from Goff High School in 1959. He was a lifelong farmer and worked for KDOT in the Maintenance Department; retiring after 25 years.
He enjoyed collecting Skeezix Toys (farming toys) and had the first production toy which was a German made tractor. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, collecting guns and hunting. He shot his last deer this winter at the age of 85. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jerry married Nancy Grace Schafer on June 1, 1963 in Atchison, KS. They celebrated over 62 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy of the home; 4 children, Pamela S. Leihsing (Dwayne) of Emporia, KS, Todd A. Swart (Gena) of Seneca, KS, LeaAnne Nolte (Steven) of Seneca, KS and Diane E. Sowers (Jerry Morrison) of Goff, KS; 14 grandchildren, Ashley, Audrey, Thomas, Emily, Issac, Cameron, Kaleb, Macey, Derek, Hailey, Ava, Mitchell, Jordan and Steven and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Madeline Swart and 5 brothers, Leonard, Lawrence, Elver, Harold and Melvin.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Goff United Methodist Church burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery at Goff. Family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
