SPIKER
WETMORE- George Henry Spiker, 90, of Topeka, formerly of Wetmore, died "of a broken heart" Saturday, August 29, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born March 15, 1919 at Hoyt, KS the son of William C. and Angeline Jordan Spiker. He farmed his land in Granada, KS; after retirement he moved to Wetmore and later to Topeka.
George was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of Lions Club both in Wetmore, KS.
He married Viola Ruth Shivers Jordan on March 31, 1951 in Topeka, KS. She preceded him in death 3 days before him on August 26, 2009. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Rilla Chase and Edna Penn; 2 brothers, Warren Spiker and Bernard Spiker and a grandson, Brent Jordan.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Jordan and his wife Donita of Topeka, KS; 2 granddaughters, Sally Jordan of Overland Park, KS and Tara Jordan Crawshaw of Topeka, KS; 2 great grandchildren, Jacob and Ashleigh and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
