George "Dallas" Coleman, 89, of Denison, KS passed away April 10, 2014 at Holton Community Hospital. He was born November 23, 1924 in rural Denison, KS the son of Loyd Everett and Flossie Elsie (Renfro) Coleman.
Dallas graduated from Denison High School in 1942. After high school he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He joined in 1949 and on October 1, 1949 he was promoted to P.F.C. and served until January 4, 1951.
Dallas was a farmer, self employed soil conservation contractor and had worked for a short time at the Denison Post Office. He also was a mechanic and farm repair. He was lifetime member of the Mayetta Masonic Lodge #393 serving over 55 years, a lifetime member of Hoyt OES and a member of Ozawkie American Legion.
Survivors include 3 sisters, Elsie Fitzgerald of Springhill, KS, Shirley Jenson of Larkinburg, KS and Marjorie Todd (Clarence) of Effingham, KS. He is also survived and much loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Everett and Wilbur Coleman.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Donor's Choice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
