Obituary

George Earl Askren, 62, of Circleville died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at his home as a result of a tornado. He was born October 9, 1945 in Holton, KS, the son of Lawrence Andrew and Marilyn Edith Cordon Askren. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1966.
He was a farmer and he also worked for Shorty's Diesel in Holton. He enjoyed tractor pulls and watching Wheel of Fortune. He was a member of the Circleville United Methodist Church.
George is survived by sisters, Helen Farley of Circleville, Dorothy Williams of Nashville, TN, and Mary Moore of Topeka; brothers, Fred Askren of Garden City, KS, Andy Askren of Topeka, and Harold Askren of Salina, KS; an aunt; an uncle; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Circleville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Ontario Cemetery. The family will greet friends 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to Circleville Alumni Association or the Circleville United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
