Gayle Lavonne Knox, 83, of Holton, KS, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at her home in Holton. She was born October 28, 1939 in Salina, KS, the daughter of Lewis K. Leonard, Sr. and Emma Melvena (Burris) Leonard.

Gayle graduated from Solomon High School and attended Christian College in Columbia, MO and Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. She lived in Holton for 9 years and previously in Kansas City, MO.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Richmond Gordman and Westlake Hardware.

Gayle married Jay L. Knox on September 3, 1960 in Smith Center, KS. They later divorced and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2018.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Whitney Coverdale (Jeff) of Holton, KS and Lindsey Knox of Prairie Village, KS; son, Jeff Knox (Mindy) of Downers Grove, IL; 2 brothers, Lewis K. Leonard, Jr. (Sondra) of Olathe, KS and Garry Leonard (Joyce) of Sandy, UT; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
