Garnetta (Fox) Luscombe peacefully passed away June 7th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at St Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS.
Mrs. Luscombe was born on August 19th, 1937 in Luray, Virginia to parents Raymond Leo and Ruth Marie (Bradley) Fox. She met her husband, Maurice Luscombe, in Washington DC, they were married for 53 years. They moved to Topeka, Kansas shortly after their wedding, but always maintained her deep roots in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Garnetta was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice Luscombe (2010); siblings Annie Muriel Henry, Lennis Marlow, Hattie Fern Jenkins, Verlie Eileen Sours, and Raymond Eugene Fox. Her surviving siblings are Doris Judd of Tennessee, Mabel Stich of Topeka Kansas, Bobby Junior Fox (Ann) of Luray Virginia, Earl Franklin Fox (Helen) of Harrisonburg Virginia.
She is survived by her three children, Tracy Curtiss (John Long), Allen Luscombe, and John Luscombe; all of Topeka. Three grandchildren, Kyle Luscombe of Topeka, Kansas, Caitlin Curtiss (Reid Hanson) of Lawrence Kansas, and Sarah Curtiss (Shelby Smith) of New York, New York and one beloved great-grandchild, Evangeline Curtiss Hanson also of Lawrence. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Garnetta was an avid gardener and reader. She was a diehard Royals and sports fan. She was a master angler, an extraordinary cook, and a gifted seamstress. Mrs. Luscombe was a devoted wife, sister, mother, and a loving and engaged grandmother and great grandmother. She was an anchor and main stay in the lives of so many. Her presence, laughter, and nurturing actions will be forever missed.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Midland Hospice of Topeka c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
