Gail L. Washburn, 91, of Whiting, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 in Topeka at McCrite Plaza. She was born November 23, 1921 in Onaga, KS the daughter of Charles Walter and Lena May (Andrick) Clark.

Gail graduated from Whiting High School in 1940 and had lived most of her life in the Whiting community. She was a homemaker and farmwife. Gail was a member of the Whiting Methodist Church.

She married Norvell Earl Washburn on July 13, 1942 in Holton. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Cleo M. Smith.

Survivors include 3 sons, Lynn Washburn (Mary) of Tecumseh, KS, Gary Washburn (Elaine) of Shawnee, KS and James Washburn (Kathy) of Topeka, KS; a daughter, Conne Jo Gentz (Robert) of Herington, KS; 9 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Whiting. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Whiting Community Center c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
