Frederick A. "Fred" Kupfersmith, 87, of Home, KS passed away July 3, 2016 at his daughter's home in Manhattan. He was born February 9, 1929 on the family farm near Home City, KS the oldest son of Frank and Louise (Wullschleger) Kupfersmith.
Fred attended Midway country school near his home and later graduated from Marysville High School in 1946. After graduating, Fred took over the family farm and continued farming until retirement in 2004.
On February 7, 1976, Fred married Betty Moody Ray. She passed away on August 1, 2010.
Fred was a lifetime member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Home City, until it closed in 2010. He was then a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Axtell.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lois Holm and one brother, Frank Kupfersmith.
Survivors include a son, Doug Ray of Chapman, KS; four daughters, Debbie Miller (Ed) of Marysville, KS, Dorothy Watson (Jerome) of Victorville, CA, Diana Shropshire (Steve) of Cartersville, GA and Dodie Ray (Wayne) of Manhattan, KS; one brother, Donald Kupfersmith of Aurora, NE; two sisters, Carol Gurtler of Glenrock, WY and Mary Simpson of Montesario, WA; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial Graveside Service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Frederick Arthur Kupfersmith Memorial Fund (to be designated at a later date) c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
