Fred Jacob Zirger, 76, of Topeka, formerly of Mayetta, KS, passed away, Friday, November 1, 2013 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born March 12, 1937 in Circleville, KS, the son of Carl Fredrich and Hazel B. Frost Zirger.

Fred graduated from Mayetta High School in 1955. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. He was a retired union structural iron worker and worked out of the Local 10 District working all over the United States.

Fred married Peggie Brent in 1988 in Topeka, Kansas. They had a wonderful 32 years together. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his daughter, Wendy Wilkinson of Topeka, KS; his step-daughter, Vonda Utterback of Denison, KS; his step-sons, Kenny Levitt of Topeka, KS, Charlie Levitt (Woendi) of California and Bill Levitt (fiancé, Sara Lester) of Soldier, KS; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery.
