Fred White, Jr., 95, of Holton passed away October 21, 2012 at The Pines in Holton. He was born March 15, 1917 in Holton the son of Fred White, Sr. and Bessie L. Marshall.

Fred graduated from Lansing High School in 1934. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the 147th General Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii and Medical Corp for the 36th Field Hospital on the Marshall Islands. He received military decorations including a bronze star and a purple heart. Fred had lived in Holton since 2006 and had previously lived in Circleville and Winchester. He was a dairy farmer in Winchester for many years.


He was a member of the Circleville United Methodist Church.


Fred married Frances Irene Moses on November 30, 1945 in Basehor, KS. She survives. Other survivors include 6 sons, Donald White and his wife Barbara of Holton, Ronald White and his wife Mary Kay of Topeka, Mark White and his wife Mary of Powhattan, Stanley White and his wife Wanda of Mayetta, Steven White and his wife Kelly of Topeka and Tim White and his wife Karen of Olathe; 2 daughters, Sharon Hartwich and her husband Stan of Onaga and Elaine Harris and her husband Mark of Topeka; a brother Dale White of West Hampton Beach, NY; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Edwin, William and Zane White.


Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Wildhorse Cemetery (southeast of McLouth).
