Fred Johnson, 91, of Holton, formerly of Circleville, passed away Friday evening March 9, 2012.


He was born May 8, 1920, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Fred W. and Edith Rhea Johnson. He attended elementary school in Dennis, Kansas and graduated from Drexel Missouri High School in 1938. He graduated from Huff Business College in Kansas City Missouri in 1939. He later attended The University of Kansas after proudly serving his country with the Army Air Corps in WWII. He had served in England, North Africa and Italy. He was a member of the Holton VFW Post 1367 and was a past member of the Methodist Church in Drexel, Missouri.


Fred married Lillian Slocum on June 30, 1949 in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.


Graveside Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday March 30, 2012 in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Mercer Funeral Home prior to services from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to Holton VFW Post 1367 and left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton 66436.
