HOYT, KS- Frank Joseph Sevcik, Jr., 74, of Hoyt, KS died Thursday, February 07, 2008 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born August 2, 1933 in Kansas City, MO the son of Frank J. Sevcik, Sr. and Elsie Shalla Sevcik.
Frank grew up in Barneston, NE and graduated from Barneston High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Michiko Kitade on May 8, 1956 in Tokyo, Japan. They moved back to Nebraska where he farmed and held various jobs before moving to Topeka, KS in 1965. He worked for Frisbee Construction building bridges and was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local #1445. He moved to Hoyt, KS in 1980 where he attended the Hoyt Baptist Church and was baptized on June 26, 1988. His wife, Michiko, passed away in February of 2005 and he moved to Eventide Convalescent Center in Topeka. There, he took pride in being the Sound System Coordinator.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Frank, Sr., mother, Elsie, infant son, Johnny and infant daughter, Dixie. He is survived by his daughter, Toni Loontjer and her husband, Russ of Lincoln, NE; his son, Jimmy Sevcik of Beatrice, NE; grandson, Dustin Oltman and wife, Christina and 3 great-grandchildren, Kyson, Keitan and Kya Oltman all of Springfield, MO.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Hoyt Baptist Church in Hoyt, KS. He will lie in state at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS where family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening.
