BROWNING
HOLTON- Frances C. Browning, 92, of Holton, KS passed away June 6, 2011 at Medicalodge Jackson County. She was born October 24, 1918 in Oneida, KS the daughter of Trace E. and Minnie (Meader) Ridgway. She had lived in the Holton community since 1935 and had previously lived in Seneca.
Frances was a waitress at Bolen's Café in Holton and was a babysitter out of her home.
She married Earl Browning in Holton. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a son Dennis Browning; 4 sisters, Bernetta Anderson, Phyllis Cleland, Marguerite Driscoll and Helen Ridgway; 2 brothers, Gerald and Gaylen Ridgway and 2 grandchildren, Gerald Browning and Barbara Browning.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Sharon Browning of Holton, Phyllis Jean Martin of Topeka, Diane Levick (Robin) of Holton and Brenda Horton of Carthage, TX; 2 sons, Ronald Browning (Margie) of Topeka and Jim Browning (Beverly) of Happy Valley OR; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 9, 2011 at Holton Cemetery. Frances will lie in state Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home until Thursday morning. Memorials may be given to the Jackson County Friends of Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
