Obituary

HOLTON-Forrest Dean "Frosty" Farmer, 74, of Holton, KS passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 14, 1935 in Mayetta, KS the son of Peryl L. and Goldie D. Bowser. He graduated from Holton High School in 1953, after graduation he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
Frosty was a lifelong member of the Holton community. He retired from the United States Air Force after serving 32 years, drove the activity bus for USD 336 for 20 years and was a farmer.
He was a member of the Potawatomi Methodist Church in Mayetta, KS, a member of the Masonic Lodge #42 in Holton, a member of the American Legion Post #1 of Topeka, a member of Good Sam Camping Organization and a member of Jackson County Sheriff's Posse.
He married Virginia L. Marshall on January 15, 1954 in Mayetta, KS. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Gregory A. Farmer and Douglas D. Farmer both of Holton, KS; a daughter, Kathy Farmer McNeel of Mayetta, KS; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Peryl L. and Billy L. Farmer.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will at the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Frosty Farmer Memorial Fund, to be designated at a later date.
