HOLTON- Floyd Dale Amon, 85, of Holton died Friday July 23, 2010 at his home. He was born June 27, 1925 in Holton the son of Albert Charles and Ada Belle (Hoverstock) Amon. Floyd graduated from Holton High School in 1943 and entered the United States Army in 1949. After proudly serving his country for 35 years, he retired from the United States Army Reserves in 1985. Floyd was a farmer and stockman his entire life. He was a member of the American Legion Mary L. Bair Post #44 in Holton, a member of the Jackson County Livestock Association, served on the board of directors for KSHSAA for six years, the Holton School Board for eight years and was treasurer for Jackson County Nursing Home for eleven years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton and was a longtime choir member.
On December 2, 1948, he married Phyllis Jean Eubanks in Holton. She survives. Other survivors include: his daughters, Patricia Lukert (Rick) of Sabetha, KS and Debra Matzke (Brad) of Mayetta, KS; his son, Gary Amon (Ann) of Holton, KS; his brother, Glenn Amon of Dallas, TX; his nieces, Glenda Sarmiento (Anibal) of Dallas, TX and Pam Schumann (Jim) of Netawaka, KS; His nephew, Larry Eubanks (Bonnie) of Whiting, KS; his seven grandchildren, Patrick Amon (Christy), Joni Carlsen (Richard), Garrett Amon, Mandy Bredemeier (Jason), Brandon Lukert (Amy), Heather and Ryan Matzke; his seven great-grandchildren, Kade, Carson, Zackary, Kylie, Peyton, Parker and Max.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Floyd Amon Memorial Fund to be designated later c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
